Setup and Getting Started

Once you sign up, we schedule a 30-minute onboarding call. During that call you share your restaurant name, your greeting text, your menu categories, your hours, and any FAQ answers you want Loman to have on hand. We configure the forwarding number and do a test call with you on the phone so you can hear how Loman answers. That's it. We target live-by-the-next-evening-service for every new customer.

No. You keep your existing number. Loman works as a call-forwarding destination: your existing carrier sends calls to us when you are busy or when you want full coverage. We can also set it up as your primary line if you prefer a fresh number, but most customers keep their existing number and use conditional forwarding.

No hardware, no app. Loman is a cloud service. It receives calls via the forwarding configuration. Staff get notifications via email or SMS, both of which work on any phone they already carry.

Your restaurant name and how to pronounce it, your standard hours, your rough menu categories (so it knows what kind of orders to expect), your address and parking notes, and your notification email and/or SMS number. That is enough to go live. We can refine the FAQ script over the first week as real questions come in.

What Loman Handles

Takeout orders, dine-in reservations, waitlist additions, FAQ questions (hours, address, menu info, parking, allergen basics), and after-hours messages. For calls that genuinely require a human (such as a multi-course event booking or a complaint), Loman tells the caller it will have someone call back and captures their number and reason.

Currently Loman handles calls primarily in English. We are actively building Spanish-language support for the Austin market, where a significant share of restaurant calls come in Spanish. If your restaurant has a specific bilingual need, email us at [email protected] and we will let you know when it is available for your use case.

Loman tells the caller it doesn't have that specific information and offers to take their number for a callback from staff. It does not guess. We tune the FAQ script during your first week to cover the questions that actually came up in calls, so the gap closes quickly.

No. Loman captures the order and notifies your staff, but does not collect card numbers. Payment is handled at pickup or at the table, the same way it is today. We deliberately do not touch payment data.

Operations and Reliability

The forwarding is configured so that if Loman's line does not answer within a set number of rings, calls fall back to your original number or to voicemail, whichever you prefer. Your restaurant never goes dark. We have not had a service outage during active call hours since our pilot launched in late 2024, but the fallback is in place regardless.

Yes. You can set Loman to handle calls only after a certain number of rings (so staff get the chance to answer first), only during peak hours, or only after close. The configuration is set during onboarding and can be changed by emailing us at any time.

Notifications are sent within a few seconds of the call ending. In practice, kitchen staff typically receive the email or SMS within 15 seconds of the call completing. We use a delivery-priority queue so that notifications are never batched or delayed during high-traffic periods.

We do not instruct Loman to pretend to be a human employee. If a caller directly asks "Am I speaking with a person?", Loman answers honestly that it is an automated system for the restaurant. In most calls, callers are focused on placing their order or making their reservation, and the question does not come up. We find that the transparency, when it is requested, does not hurt caller satisfaction.

Privacy and Data

Calls are processed to generate the transcript and notification. We retain transcripts for 30 days to allow our team to tune the call logic and for you to review recent call history. Audio recordings are not stored beyond the end of the call. You can read the full details in our Privacy Policy.

No. Caller information is shared only with you, the restaurant. We do not sell, share, or use caller data for any advertising purpose. Loman is a tool for your restaurant, not a data business.
